Kumfs Open Second Melbourne Store
New Zealand footwear manufacturer Kumfs today opened its second dedicated Kumfs store in Melbourne, Victoria, at the art deco-style retail centre – Australia on Collins.
Kumfs Managing director, Andrew Robertson, said the opening of the Melbourne store forms part of a business expansion plan which has seen a total of six new retail stores opened in New Zealand, United States and Australia by the end of this year. The most recent store opening prior to the Melbourne store was in New Plymouth last month.
“Our retail chain is currently a significant area of growth for Kumfs, therefore, we’re focussing a lot of our business efforts in that direction,” Andrew said.
“With the biggest demand for our footwear currently coming from Australia the time was right to open another store across the ditch.”
Andrew said the location of the Melbourne store, which will become Kumfs 16th Australian store, was carefully chosen due to its location and target demographic. “Situated in the heart of Melbourne city, Australia on Collins is designed to cater for every age, lifestyle need and individuality.
“Prior to the store’s opening there was no retailer in the Melbourne Central Business District that stocked Kumfs shoes. Other areas of the city were covered by strong Kumfs stockists and a dedicated Kumfs store in the suburb of Camberwell.”
Andrew said the opening of the Melbourne store comes in the wake of Kumfs’ recent milestone birthday when the kiwi company celebrated last month 60 years of making women’s shoes.“The Kumfs business is currently growing year-on-year. As the health benefits of good posture and the importance of buying shoes that enhance that increases, so too does international interest in the Kumfs experience.
“With the opening of the Australia on Collins store, we now have 17 Kumfs branded stores operating in New Zealand, 16 in Australia and one in the USA.”
Kumfs also has a rapidly expanding export market, with more than 500 retailers in countries around the world stocking Kumfs shoes including Canada, Malaysia and Singapore. “We believe our growth is due to our commitment to delivering on our core principles – offering comfortable quality shoes that fit well and look great.”
