New Zealand owned foot-friendly shoe brand - Kumfs – will expand its Brisbane- based activities, with the opening of a company-owned store in the central business district on 21 September.
The central city store will be the second Kumfs store to open in Brisbane - the first opened in Garden City in August 2005.
Kumfs New Zealand Managing Director, Andrew Robertson, said up to now, Kumfs shoes were only available via stockists in the CBD.
“The opening of the new store increases to 19 the number of Kumfs fully-owned stores across Australia,” Andrew said.
Kumfs shoes have been distributed in Australia for over 30 years and are currently stocked by approximately 230 retailers.
“It’s great to see a New Zealand success story that offers such high quality and fashionable footwear, designed first and foremost with comfort in mind, making a big impact in Australia,” Andrew said.
The new Brisbane store follows ‘hard on the heels’ of the recent opening of the first company-owned store in Asia. Located in Hong Kong, the store opening was prompted by a lack of availability of well-made and fashionable orthotic-friendly shoes.
Kumfs shoes has been operating in New Zealand since 1946 and during that time the business has gone from strength-to-strength. With 19 stores in New Zealand the Kumfs brand is now a household name. Internationally, the popular range of fashionable footwear has earned a well-deserved reputation for being synonymous with comfort, style and quality.
As with every Kumfs store, the Brisbane CBD store will offer a professional fitting service, as well as a 30 Day No Risk Wear Test.
“With the No Risk Wear Test, customers are able to bring their shoes back within 30 days and we will happily fix the problem,” Andrew said.
“We believe this to be an important service as it’s impossible for customers to get the full experience of a shoe by simply trying it on in a store.”
He said Kumfs’ success comes from blending quality workmanship and style with comfort technology, as well as innovations in orthotic-friendly footwear.
Last year, the company sparked international interest with its revolutionary new footwear range – the Y-Series sandals.
“The Y-Series sandals are unique as they are the first fashionable open toed sandals that allow custom-made orthotics to be easily inserted into them.”
During the last financial year, the company recorded a 14 per cent increase in sales. It also recently celebrated a number of firsts including the first anniversary of its American store in Fresno and the opening of the store in Asia.
